Moss Campion

There are around 180 different flowering plants known on Spitsbergen (like the Moss Campion in this picture). This year a new species was found, the Alpine Butterwort (Pinguicula alpina). It was the first new plant species to be found on Spitsbergen in 40 years. It is even a carnivorous plant species. Read here more about the discovery.
